  • UCAS rounds every count to the nearest 5 (a 0 may be 1 or 2), so offer rates computed from the rounded counts can differ slightly from UCAS's own, most for small numbers.
  • Applications count choices (up to five per person), while applicants and accepted applicants count people; accepted applicants include people placed through Clearing, so they cannot be divided by applications. Applications and offers are main scheme only (by the 30 June deadline).
  • Domicile is where the applicant normally lives, not nationality or fee status. Source: UCAS end of cycle data 2025.

FAQ
What is the offer rate for Chinese applicants at KCL?

In the 2024 UCAS cycle, applicants in the group "Domicile: China (mainland)" made 8,847 applications and received 5,124 offers, 57.9% per application, against 45.3% for all applicants: 12.6 percentage points higher than all applicants. The gap differs by course and by year; see the comparison above.

Is KCL's China figure by nationality?

No, by domicile. KCL says it shows applicants domiciled in China separately because this is the non-UK domicile most often asked about in earlier information requests. The section is headed simply "China" and does not say whether Hong Kong or Macao domicile is included; these pages label it mainland China and keep that caveat. Domicile is where the applicant normally lives, so a Chinese national doing A-levels in the UK may count as UK-domiciled.

What is the difference between acceptances and enrolments?

Acceptances are applicants who held an unconditional firm offer, met all its conditions and said they wish to accept; enrolments are those who then joined that same course. Both rates are per application, and neither is one person's chance of admission. Deferred-entry applications are counted in the cycle in which they were made.
