MAT Tutors
The MAT is a long-answer paper for maths and computer-science applicants — it rewards structured problem solving and clear written reasoning.
Our tutors are active top-UK researchers who solve hard problems for a living. Work one to one, online or in London, by the session.
Tutors who are active researchers
We're upgrading our mentor system, which we expect to open next month. If you urgently need a tutor, please contact us directly.
Do I need a tutor who has personally taken the MAT?
Not necessarily. What matters is a tutor with deep command of the underlying mathematics who knows the MAT's long-answer style — someone who can teach structured written reasoning, not just tricks. Our maths tutors solve and write up problems like these every day.
Is the MAT still the right test to prepare for?
Check your course's current requirements first. From 2026 entry, several courses that previously used the MAT have moved to the TMUA. If your course now asks for the TMUA, start from our TMUA page — the underlying preparation overlaps heavily.
How are sessions run?
One to one, online or in London, booked by the session from your wallet. Your tutor is an active PhD or postdoc researcher — not a former student teaching on the side.
