The people who do the teaching
should keep its value.

Wisesprout is run by active researchers at a top UK university. We built the platform we wanted to exist — the account is open, most of the fee follows the teaching, and the course belongs to the person who teaches it. If you do real research and love to teach, this page is for you.

How we work

Four things we hold to.

01

Most of the fee is yours

You see what the student pays, and you see exactly what you keep — up to 85% of every session. No agency takes the larger share; that is the whole reason we built this.

02

You set your rate

You choose your rate within your tier's band, so it reflects your academic standing — not a race to the bottom against the cheapest listing on a marketplace.

03

You teach. We carry the rest.

Scheduling, payments, materials, matching students to the right mentor — the admin runs underneath you. You show up and teach.

04

Your name stays yours

Mentors teach under their own names — the reputation you build here is yours, and it travels with you. Professors choose how public to be — full, partial or anonymised — and can change it later.

For PhD candidates & postdocs

Not another tutoring agency.

Most agencies hide the price from both ends — the student never learns what the tutor keeps, and the tutor never learns what the student paid. We put the whole account on the table: you know what the student pays, you know your share, and your share grows the longer you teach — from 70%, up to 85%. Try it on the right: that slider runs the exact formula our payout engine runs.

Teach beside professors

Our flagship Future Scholars programmes take teaching fellows — the professor gives the lectures, you run the small groups and the questions. Real teaching alongside named academics, the kind that belongs on an academic CV.

Built around your research

You choose your hours and your load. Teaching fits around lab time and deadlines — not the other way round.

The subjects we need most

Sciences and quantitative subjects, GCSE and A-level through to university admissions tests. ESAT and TMUA mentors are in especially high demand right now.

We stay selective on purpose. Students trust that everyone here is genuinely active in research — that trust is the product. If you are a PhD candidate or postdoc at a leading UK university and you would teach well, the rest is a short application, read by one of us.

For faculty

Your course. Your terms.

We pay professors the most competitive rates in the field — a flat 85% share on one-to-one teaching, and project-based fees for flagship group courses. But what keeps professors here isn't the number. It's what teaching feels like:

A professor mid-demonstration, holding up a flask as students lean in

Not another slide reading

Our courses are not PPT liturgies. Live experiments, demonstrations, animation, argument — if you love teaching itself and want lessons to look the way you always felt they should, you will be at home here.

No format police

No house template, no minimum slide count, no mechanical requirements. Lecture, lab, seminar, field visit — your course, defined by you.

You teach; we carry everything else

Scheduling, payments, materials, logistics, parents — handled, on a platform built to stay out of your way. You show up, teach, run the experiment, talk with the students.

Teaching tours, first class

If your course is selected for our in-person series in China, we arrange the whole trip — premium flights and hotels throughout, plus a holiday package on top.

Equity, in time

Long-term partners earn equity in Wisesprout as the collaboration deepens. We mean the first line of this page literally: the people who do the teaching should own a share of its value.

Colleagues, not contractors

We are open researchers ourselves. A new course, a new format, a half-formed idea — bring it over any time. We speak the language.

Professors join by invitation — and the form below is how that conversation starts. Tell us who you are and what you would love to teach; one of us will write back within days.
